Once Upon A Meal

Think the idea, Eat what's left

Elementary. Watch it.

Even if you’re a die hard Sherlock fan who has never read a single Sherlock Holmes story.

I swear it’s worth the watch, because it’s different from the BBC show (as it should be), while still keeping true to some of the good old Sherlock Holmes elements.

Any similarities (outside of the fact that, hey, they’re both adaptations from the same thing) can be explained, so that never even bothered me.

Lucy Liu was a bad ass Watson and I was very wrong about how changing the gender could not work. Thank you for changing my mind.

(yeah this is outside of my regular blog activities and I haven’t even posted anything in a while, but I felt like writing this up it because… just because)

You know what makes it easier to write women like actual human beings? Thinking of women as actual human beings.

Fudge the people who act like writing a female character is solving a math problem. Especially if you’re a woman yourself, don’t pretend writing your own gender is something incredibly alien to you.
Know what helps me write good (female) characters? Giving everyone who complains/doubts the finger. Fuck you all, I write humans. Beautiful, flawed humans.
God knows how many times I’ve had to explain this to fellow writers.

I just have zero ideas as to what’s going on here.

If you’re interested in knowing. She’s a movie critic who’s been giving a lot of commentary about female protagonists in superhero movies. This particular video was about Charlie’s Angels, an example of a movie that shows people can’t seem to be able to make a proper female hero without making it fetish-y in every way possible. The fact that she, herself, also gets a lot of sexually charged comments about her videos for no other reason than that she’s a woman is the reason she decided to cover herself up and says Feminism has ‘failed’. Because there doesn’t seem to be a change in anything.
Not everyone agrees with the message in the video, because they don’t like the fact that feminism is brought up a lot, but I thought it was quite interesting AND funny at the same time.

Watching Breaking Bad

I watched the first episode a while ago and wasn’t enough satisfied to keep watching, but since everyone is calling it ‘TEH BEST SHOW EVAAAR’. I’m trying again.

So now I’ve seen a total of two episode and feeling sick as fuck. Thank you very much.

(still going to keep watching, though.)

I’m sort of disappointed in myself.

thatisnotfeminism:

I just looked at my friend demographics on Facebook:

white male: 28%

white female: 29%

white asexual: 0.4%

asian male:15%

asian female: 17%

black male: 4%

black female: 7%

Also the first time i did this calculation i ended up with 110% friends. So.

I once tried to calculate the percentage of straight, white males on the internet as a whole (don’t ask, I get really bored sometimes). I ended up with a very disappointing, and quite unreliable, percentage of about 55 (if I remember correctly). Inaccuracies aside, it’s still very telling.

I did this because everyone on the internet seems to assume that I’m a guy, white, straight and from the USA.

I don’t think I should be doing things like this in my free time.

“I’m surprised!” said no one

So I thought… Okay, so people aren’t very aware of the shit that is going on, still sucks, but that’s what feminism is for.
Then I did this:

And I cried  for a thousand years.
